When you walk through the doors of Kingsbridge, you can expect a smiling face and a warm welcome. Our staff know our residents’ names, how they take their coffee or tea, and what their favourite comfort food is. Kingsbridge is more than just your average Retirement Community; we are one big family.
Last year we had an idea… we wanted to show our residents how much we love them and also honour the residents who were no longer with us, with an end-of-summer Pig Roast. Everyone got involved; we had residents wearing their purple and yellow sunflower Kingsbridge t-shirts, live entertainment, games, a giant sweet bar and of course, a big pig roasting in our courtyard. Despite a rainstorm that quickly ushered us indoors, our residents had an amazing time, and you could feel the love in the room as our community came together to celebrate one another and simply have fun! After the day was done, we knew we had to make this party an annual event for our residents.
When the COVID-19 pandemic was introduced to us, our world was turned upside down. Our faces were masked, and our daily life immediately changed to keep everyone safe (and that we did). Although our days looked different, the feeling of community and family was felt as we “bumped elbows” instead of giving hugs and “smiled with our eyes.” We like to think it’s because of the connections we have with our residents that brought comfort, trust and feelings of safety in such an uncertain time. That is something that must be celebrated.
We are so grateful that we are in a position this year to be able to safely celebrate our residents (aka. Kingsbridge Family). Our community has grown significantly over the past year (even during the pandemic), and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate with everyone at our second annual pig roast on September 9th, 2021.
Any building you walk into can be beautiful and serve great food… but not every building will give you the feeling of Home, Family, Safety and Security, like Kingsbridge Retirement Community does. We love and appreciate our residents and their families, and we make sure they know it in style.
Stay tuned for upcoming photos of our second annual pig roast on our Facebook page.
